Yesterday my mom and I along with her friend and daughter attended a great conference put on by the nonprofit group Living Beyond Breast Cancer. The morning speaker Dr. Sledge was great. He talked about advances in breast cancer and how the new drug Avastin (that I find out tomorrow if i have been getting) more then doubled the rate of survival in patients that got it! He also talked about the future holding so much for breast cancer. My mom attended a care giver session and I went to on about hormonal therapy or should I say anti estrogen drugs.
We met some other great people. My favorite was a women came up to me since I am so young and said there is this group of young cancer survivors that go away for a week in the summer and do things like kayak and mountain climb and she thought I would love it!! Oh boy does she not know me!! haha A week at a spa or a beach, I am totally there! ha ha
After the conference we took a walk over to the Reading Terminal and I got some Flying Monkey cupcakes!!
Whose says everything about breast cancer sucks!
