Hello friends,
Well like I have said before I am getting so well educated on all these medical terms. My newest one being Neutropenic Fever! I found out exactly what that was with a nice over night stay at the hospital.
I got a chill Tuesday afternoon and could not warm up even in the heat at Sesame with Hunter and my nephew. So after getting back to my parents, we took my temp and saw it was 104! So called my oncologist since I am never allowed to go over 100.4 and off to RWJUH in New Brunswick for a night of fun. (quick side note, that hospital is great when you are in isolation! you get a menu to order your meals when you want them, visiting hours are 24/7, and Kev even had a couch that pulls out into a twin bed!)
Basically my white count was so low that my body could not fight anymore. When you get chemo it kills all the good and bad cells and that includes that includes the ones that fight infection. Then to top it all off we have discovered I have low blood pressure and it was way low and my heart rate was way high and I have these awful blisters in my lips that no Bobbi Brown aubergine is covering up!
Anyway, I was sent home yesterday with some antibiotics and told to watch the temperature and stay away from crowds.
My doctors will decide on Monday morning if we can do round 3 or not.
The fun never ends!

Wow!
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible and fascinating at the same time.
Glad you've recovered!
I just went to the Emergency room today for a broken wrist from touch rugby. Luckily it's just a sprain. Got to love social health care in Australia. The $400 Emergency room and $200 dollar X-ray are covered. Hopefully the US see the light.
lots of love,
-Sam
