So just to recap how i got to where i am... so i found a lump in my left breast at the end of March. After a mammo and ultra sound and meeting with a surgeon, it was decided to remove what we thought was a cyst and move on. On April 9th, I had surgery number 1 to have cyst removed. Then on April 13th, the bad news came that it was in fact cancer. After getting second, third and fourth opinions, I trusted my care in the wonderful hands of the team at Cancer Institute of NJ. On June 5th, I had surgery 2, a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy which came back free and clear of remaining cancer cells!
After waiting on the edge of my seat, I found out that on July 20 I will start chemo. I will be getting 4 treatments (ac) every other week and then 12 weekly treatments (t) which will then be followed by radiation.
It is not the journey I planed to be walking, but it is in front of me and I will make the best of it. I have had the most amazing support from friends and family and know they are all walking this journey beside me. Of course, we are all walking this journey in the most amazing shoes!!
